About this deal

While it's a great first camera for beginners, we'd also recommend the E-M10 Mark IV to more experienced photographers on a budget or those looking to downsize from a DSLR. It doesn’t deliver the battery or image quality performance of high-end mirrorless cameras or DSLRs, but it could be a great option as a recce or second camera. For those situations, and at this price, it's a terrific beginner mirrorless camera and certainly one of the best cameras for photography around. Price and release date The 50mm 1.8 Zuiko lens is probably the best lens for the Olympus OM10. The 50mm Zuiko Lens is a cult classic lens that can produce some very good shots that would be very sharp and detailed. In any case, though, when it comes to image quality, the lens with which you choose to shoot is just as important as the sensor and processor. In this review, I've used the E-M10 IV body with three lenses: The M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ zoom which is available in the E-M10 IV kit version, plus the separately-available 17mm F1.8 and 45mm F1.8 primes. An Olympus model made by Cosina, [3] the OM-2000 was not considered by Olympus 'die-hard fans' to be a 'true OM' camera.

One guy told me that I could basically use more or less any flash, but if I was interested, he wanted to sell me the flash that originally came with the camera. He also had some extra lenses for sale. So, that's how I ended up buying a gorgeous 28 mm f/2.8 wide angle and a 100 mm f/2.8 telephoto for it! I didn't pay much for them, just around €60-70, I think. I didn't buy the flash since I wanted to use my Diana flash with it instead. The E-M10 Mark IV is Olympus’ answer to cameras like the Panasonic Lumix G100, Fujifilm X-T200 and Sony ZV-1. And it manages to stand out with its classic OM-D styling, super-compact body and that excellent IBIS system. The 20MP resolution isn’t going to grab any headlines, but it's a significant and welcome step up over its predecessor's 16MP sensor, and keeps it within range of the competition. The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV has a screen that can flip down – perfect for selfies! (Image credit: Future) Build and handling The camera's built-in light meter provides accurate exposure readings through the viewfinder, ensuring well-exposed photographs. It features a center-weighted metering system, which analyzes the light from the entire frame but gives more importance to the central area.Find sources: "Olympus OM system"– news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR ( December 2013) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message) The nucleus of the system was a series of compact bodies divided into an advanced series and a later consumer-oriented series. The first model was the all-mechanical M-1 which, after pressure from Leica (which already had an M1 model), was renamed OM-1. At the same time the M system was renamed OM System. The camera included a full-aperture TTL Cadmium-sulphide (CdS) exposure meter, and a bayonet lens mount of relatively large diameter. By the end of the 1970s it was joined by the semi-automatic OM-2 and consumer-oriented OM-10. Olympus continued the naming pattern with the 'professional' OM-3 and OM-4, and the consumer-level OM-20, OM-30 and OM-40. The cameras were accompanied by a series of Zuiko-branded lenses, as well as a generous selection of accessories. The majority of OM bodies and lenses were manual-focus only; the OM-707 of 1986 was the only true autofocus model.

Something else you'll find in the Live Guide menu is photo tips, which gives you hints for taking various types of photos. It's mostly useful advice about composition and suggested settings, but it doesn't actually change any settings or direct you to the correct spot to adjust them.

The OM-10 hit the markets in June 1979 at the same time as the OM-2N. The camera was a 35mm focal-plane shutter aperture priority AE SLR camera with an electronic shutter. Only aperture-priority AE was available with the camera unless the optional manual exposure adapter was installed. This allowed the setting of shutter speeds between 1s and 1/1000s, (bulb mode was also available). The camera was equipped with a fixed pentaprism viewfinder which contained an LED exposure indicator. The finder coverage was measured to be 93%. The 3.0-inch LCD touchscreen is the most ambitious of the series so far. This time, the E-M10 IV’s screen tilts upwards 90-degrees for shooting at hip level, and also flips downwards 180-degrees in the other direction. This positions it under the camera for selfies and vlogging. It’s good to see more flexibility introduced, but it does present a potential issue for people who want to self-shoot while using the camera on a tripod.
